Cynthia Harrison is a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers with a Bachelor and Master of Social Work degree from King’s University College.  

Her passion for health and wellness developed from her own personal experience as a caregiver and her diverse past professional experiences as a homecare PSW specializing in dementia and hospice care, a paramedical make-up artist/esthetician, Holistic Nutritionist and lifestyle coach. Her path also journeyed through a personal cancer experience which opened the door to share in the co-creation of a cancer support program (CSRP Haldimand-Norfolk) and become a published contributor in a clinical grief and bereavement support manual. All of these profound experiences organically led her to retrain in the field of Social Work and taught her the value of weaving the sacred into every day while passionately designing a meaningful life.

Cynthia values a respectful, therapeutic relationship that is trauma-informed, collaborative and supportive of each client’s unique needs and goals in the discovery of personal strengths, areas for growth, enhanced coping, clarity and life enrichment. The overall goal for the therapeutic process is to nurture emotional well-being through the acknowledgement and care of issues related to feelings, behaviors, and life experiences that are currently affecting day to day functioning. 

Cynthia specializes in supporting clients experiencing chronic illness, mental health challenges, caregiver burnout, grief, life transitions and new beginnings with a personalized approach that recognizes and supports each client’s vision and values with compassion, validation and celebration. She utilizes therapeutic exploration, creative reflection and tangible coping strategies and tools to create mind-body balance using both cognitive (top-down) and somatic (bottom-up) strategies to nurture safety, clarity and enhanced confidence to build personal capacity. authentic self-empowerment, emotional regulation and joy. Clients are supported through the integration of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Somatic Psychology/ Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness-based, Trauma-informed Expressive Arts, grief support and narrative therapy. Cynthia has a certification in Dancing Mindfulness, Drum Circle facilitation and Restorative Yoga. She is a firm believer in lifelong education and participation in self-development as a regulated health professional.

Outside of work, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her two therapy in training pups, Sophie and Sadie, and her three feathered friends. Cynthia also has a passion for hiking, reading, music and movement, gardening and nature based therapies.
